Definition: Businesses that are not affected by the recession taking place and are able to maintain their profit.

United States (US) is claimed to be in the state of slow economic growth at the time this article is written. This state of crisis where US are lagging economically brings out the worries of employees. Companies are competing to minimize their loss and a quick solution to that would be reducing number of employees.

Although people all around the world are financially affected by the recession, there are several businesses that is running smoothly. For women, cosmetics are their best friend. But during recession, they have to cut down on the number of usage of expensive and renowned brands of cosmetics. Instead, they are forced to use inexpensive products to pamper themselves.

Besides, raising a big family would not be a good idea in time of recession. This is because the head of the family need to provide the basic needs of their family members such as food, clothing and shelter. Therefore, the selling of contraceptives has been increasingly growing for the past 2 years (2007-2009). It has also supported by statistics provided by Gregory that, the contraceptives sales shoot up to 12 percent during the first 2 months of 2009.

Even though most people see recession as an unfortunate crisis, it is an advantage to another group of people, the scavengers. The period of recession is famously known as a miserable time for those who have debts, either to the business or to the bank. This is the time where many people are not able to make payments for their vehicle, houses or even any properties possessed. Bankruptcy lawyers are the ones who will be very busy as the number of people filed for bankruptcy increases.

Employees are fired, others are employed. For certain reasons, vacancies are open to administrators, accountants, security, health care administration and IT officers. These people are responsible to help the government to manage their financial accounts as well as the demands from private sectors and welfare of the citizens.

Job security is also provided to those who are involved with education. This includes professors and teachers because US is enhancing its education sector to be in line with the education standards set by other industrialized nations.
